What is the true source of your financial abundance? Does it come from you ability to make it happen or is it a co-creation with your inner-divinity?
The intention of this Prosperity Series is to provide a new path to co-creating prosperity. It’s about aligning with the awareness that when we co-create with our inner divinity, a new abundance is discovered.
This isn’t a journey of the mind. It’s a journey of discovering how to prosper by creating from the heart.
Our egoic minds want to be in control and resist any suggestion that prosperity can occur without being in charge. As a result, it can be difficult to perceive when our thinking is creating obstacles to our prosperity.
None of us want our controlling egos to be exposed.
Fortunately we have some fictional characters that can show us examples to discern whether our egoic minds may be getting in the way.
The Grand Budapest Hotel (Wes Anderson, 2014) is a movie about the adventures of Gustave H, (Ralph Fiennes) a heroic concierge at a famous European hotel, and his protege Zero Moustafa, a lobby boy. This fun and zany film provides clues of how the mind blocks prosperity.
Watch for these five egoic tendencies that block prosperity and be willing to fully surrender them.
1) Attached To Your Self Identity
Gustave’s identity is his job as concierge. He’s good at what he does and believes it’s what makes him successful. Everything in his world is about his position at the hotel. There’s no separating Gustave from his identity as one of the greatest concierges. He is his job. Notice the other concierges at the end of the film run the same pattern.
When we identify ourselves as what we do for a living, it becomes challenging to discover a new source of prosperity. We get stuck in thinking our job is our worth and once it’s gone we forget who we really are. This type of self identity limits us and blocks any new awareness from revealing itself.
2) Needing To Control Every Detail
Notice how Gustave has to be in control of every detail. Throughout the movie his time and energy is spent insuring that every detail has been reviewed by him. Even when embarking on their adventures, he can’t let go and humorously requires Zero to keep up with his demands. We also see this pattern from several other characters (Henckels).Watch for these patterns throughout the movie. They happen so quick you might miss them.
When you’re insisting on calling all the shots, it leaves no room for collaboration with others, for new ideas to occur, and it’s an exhausting way to create. It also requires that your mind be able to juggle many dimensions of details.
While many of us like to think we’re good at controlling all the details, it limits our prosperity in ways our minds simply won’t accept.
3) Obsessed with Perfection
Gustave requires everything is perfect and when a detail isn’t up to his standards, he gets emotionally reactive. Perfection is rarely achieved when our egoic minds are in control. Typically, a desire for perfection creates dualistic outcomes that tend to be exclusive instead of inclusive. Remember, your perfection is not truth for everyone. This tendency gets in the way when trying to collaborate with others. Here are some questions to discern regarding perfection:
- Do you need to have your home or office in perfect order?
- Are you uncomfortable with people making mistakes?
- Are you hard on yourself when your body, house, car, yard, etc. isn’t in perfect order?
If you can recognize any of these traits, you’re not alone. It’s simply the symptom of an over-controlling mind and it disconnects us from our heart intuition.
This alignment movie will help soften these tendencies.
4) Attachment To Things
The battle for an enormous family fortune is at the center of this story. Watch how Dimitri (Adrien Brody), demand he receives all of his mother’s inheritance. He’s especially upset when one of the paintings (Boy with Apple) is given to Gustave and won’t settle until he gets it back. Watch how his controlling shenanigans backfire.
F. Murray Abraham plays Zero as an adult. Notice how he seems unattached to losing his fortune to the new government. The only thing he hangs on to is connected to his heart – the hotel. It reminds him of his beloved wife and of his times with Gustave. The other things lost, don’t seem to matter.
There’s no problem liking nice things.
It’s our attachments that create an energetic clinging that limits new abundance. If you’re wanting more prosperity in your life, surrender your attachment to things and let go.
5) Addicted To Pleasing
Gustave is highly skilled at pleasing others. It was his job as the concierge to anticipate his guest’s every need. While this trait may seem admirable, realize it’s another form of control. A covert way of insuring you can manage how people perceive and accept you.
When you’re solely focused on pleasing others, you lose the awareness of your own heart’s desire. It disconnects you and limits you’re ability to co-create with your inner divinity.
Try not to get too bogged down on whether these above obstacles are true for you. Just let go, watch the movie and have a good time. The Alignment session experienced will sort everything out for you.
