This week we continue with our Five Dimensions of Peace with the focus on our first dimension: Awareness
Do life changes seem to come out of nowhere and catch you off guard? They might seem so big that you feel like you just took a blow by a two-by-four.
In our experience, we’ve found that major changes don’t usually come out of nowhere; typically there was gentle guidance along the way that was missed.
We call this guidance feathers and the not-so-gentle traumatic events two-by-fours.
Feathers are our guidance.
They start out as gentle awareness, discernments, hints, suggestions from others, etc. If we don’t catch these feathers that are trying to guide us to gently change our trajectory, we eventually encounter two-by-four events that continue until we make a change, willingly or not.
As Seneca says “The fates lead him who will; him who won’t, they drag.”
Ideally, if we get better at recognizing the feather-like guidance that is all around us, we move through it, grow, and change with less resistance.
Remember, life is seasonal and change is inevitable.
The more skilled you can become at recognizing these normal changes in life, the quicker you can get back to joy.
To help better understand this concept of feather vs. two-by four events we have a timely documentary by Abigail Disney – the grand daughter of Roy Disney. Her thoughtful film is called: The Armor of Light.
The Armor of Light follows an Evangelical minister and the mother of a teenage shooting victim who ask, is it possible to be both pro-gun and pro-life?
This meaningful documentary is a terrific example of the power of awareness when you use a two by four event as a catalyst for change.
By watching this Alignment Film, The Armor of Light, you can have a tangible affect on the energetic patterns that are getting in the way of a peaceful resolution on this issue of guns and violence in the United States.
The more each of us that shift intentionally and energetically to peace, it creates a momentum that will pave a way to some beneficial resolutions.
